Description
Antique 19th-century French Louis XV style wall mirror executed in the Rococo tradition. The frame is finely hand-carved wood featuring pronounced scrolling acanthus leaves, floral ornament, and rocaille shell motifs in high relief. The overall serpentine and asymmetrical composition reflects classic Louis XV design, crowned by an elaborate pierced crest and continuing with deeply carved side flourishes and lower apron detail. Finished in a painted cream patina with visible age-appropriate wear, surface cracking, and minor losses consistent with period use. Fitted with beveled mirror glass within the original carved surround. Solid and structurally sound decorative example of French revival craftsmanship. Measures 27" W x 51" H. Good antique condition consistent with age and normal use.
