Description
Hand-carved Shona stone sculpture from Zimbabwe, signed on the base “K. Kamanje” (or similar). Crafted from dark, variegated serpentine/soapstone and polished to a smooth, lustrous finish that highlights the stone’s natural color variations. The abstract, flowing form with open negative space reflects the modern Shona sculptural tradition, which emphasizes emotion, spirituality, and connection to nature through simplified organic shapes. Shona sculpture emerged in the mid-20th century and is internationally recognized for its skilled hand carving, locally sourced stone materials, and symbolic cultural themes. Height: 8". Condition: Good overall condition with light age-appropriate wear.
