Description
Vintage Japanese ceramic or stoneware teapot retaining the original “Made in Japan” label on the underside. The vessel has a squat, rounded form finished in a lightly speckled gray-beige glaze and decorated with a hand-painted black bamboo motif consisting of stalks and leaves, a traditional decorative theme in Japanese pottery. It is fitted with a U-shaped overhead bamboo-wrapped handle, characteristic of the Japanese uwade kyusu style popular during the 1970s for brewing and serving tea. Measures approximately 5 inches in height. Condition reported as good.
