Description
A vintage electric "butterfly" or "flip side" toaster, from the 1930s or 1940s. The toaster features an Art Deco design aesthetic, common for appliances of its time. It is constructed primarily of chrome-plated metal. It is a manual toaster; users would place a slice of bread on the internal rack and then flip the side door down to toast one side. The electrical cord often includes a simple on/off toggle switch to activate the heating elements. When the side panels are opened, the internal heating elements and wire rack are exposed. The mechanism allows the side doors to swing out from the center, resembling butterfly wings, which gives the toaster its common nickname. 7" H x 9" W x 5.5" L Good condition.
