Description
This lot features a set of three modernist cantilever chairs, recognized for their sleek, elegant "paperclip" silhouette. The design is a direct homage to, iconic Bauhaus-era furniture, most notably the cantilever chairs pioneered by designers like Mart Stam (such as the S33 model). These chairs embody the minimalist aesthetic of the era, focusing on functionality and simplicity. Each chair features a continuous, polished chrome-plated metal tube frame that curves to create the signature cantilever effect, allowing the seat to slightly flex, offering unexpected comfort without rear legs. For the seating surfaces, they utilize supportive bands of black leather. This material combination—cool, reflective chrome and rich, dark leather—creates a powerful contrast that is both visually striking and durable. These chairs are versatile pieces, perfect for use as dining chairs, office/conference seating, or as accent pieces to introduce a touch of classic 20th-century design into a modern interior.
