Description
Original watercolor painting by Karen Keys, depicting a single Hasidic Jewish man walking through an urban streetscape. The figure is rendered in traditional ultra-Orthodox attire—a black coat and hat—captured mid-stride, conveying a strong sense of movement. The background is composed of layered architectural surfaces and panels of Hebrew text, posters, and notices, suggesting a vibrant Hasidic neighborhood. Executed in an impressionistic manner, the work features visible brushwork, softened edges, and a restrained yet expressive palette that emphasizes atmosphere over strict detail. Karen Keys is an award-winning artist with over two decades of experience in watercolor, and additional practice in pastels. Her work often explores landscapes, figurative scenes, and urban environments, blending observation with imagination. This piece exemplifies her interest in narrative street scenes and her sensitivity to light, texture, and motion. Framed and glazed. Overall dimensions: 21 1/2" L x 18" W. Condition: Good.
