Description
This is an antique-style Asian tansu chest inspired by traditional Japanese and Korean storage furniture. The chest is constructed of wood with a red-toned finish and contrasting black framing, creating a bold, traditional appearance. It features extensive hand-forged metal hardware, including decorative lock plates, hinges, and handles, consistent with classic tansu design. The layout includes multiple small upper drawers, a central cabinet section, and larger lower storage compartments, reflecting forms commonly used in merchant chests or wedding chests. The piece was historically intended for storing clothing, documents, or valuables and remains functional as a storage cabinet. This item measures 28" L × 12.25" W × 38.5" H and is in good condition.
