Description
This is a hand-painted Japanese ceramic nappy dish dating to the early to mid 20th century. The dish is shallow in form and includes a single finger loop handle. It features a scalloped edge and a central starburst motif surrounded by stylized floral designs. Raised gold detailing is present throughout the decoration, including the handle, rim, and design elements, executed using a moriage technique. The underside is marked “Handpainted – Made in Japan.” The piece is associated with Japanese export porcelain produced during the early Art Nouveau to early Art Deco period, this one was produced after 1921. It measures approximately 6 inches across and is in good condition.
