Description
A set of Dorothy Thorpe glass serving bowls with wide silver bands. This iconic mid-century modern design was popular in the 1950s and was famously featured in the TV series Mad Men. Dorothy Thorpe was a designer who applied her sterling silver overlay to glassware manufactured by others, rather than producing the glass herself. The bowls are clear glass with a band of actual sterling silver around the rim, which is applied to the surface of the glass. Due to the silver overlay, these items are hand-wash only and not dishwasher safe, as machine washing can damage the silver band. Large bowl: 10" W x 5" H; Small bowl: 5.5" W x 2.5" H Good condition.
