Description
An etching depicting the courtyard of Franz Schubert's birthplace (Schubert Geburtshaus) in Vienna, Austria. This image is a popular subject for various artists and printmakers. The house, located at Nußdorfer Straße 54 in the 9th district of Vienna, is an 18th-century building that now serves as a museum dedicated to the composer. Franz Schubert was born in a one-room apartment with a kitchen on the top floor of this building in 1797 and lived there for the first few years of his life. Many artists, including Herta Czoernig-Gobanz and Luigi Kasimir, have created signed and hand-colored etchings of this specific scene. Signed by artist. 16" L x 12" W Good condition.
