Description
A Shoji screen room divider, which is a traditional Japanese architectural element. It is a four-panel screen, constructed from a wood frame (such as spruce or pine) and covered with a translucent paper-like material. The screen features a characteristic wooden lattice pattern, known as kumiko, that provides structure and an aesthetic appeal while holding the translucent paper. The panels are made from a heavy-duty, fiber-reinforced paper (often called rice paper, though it's typically made from mulberry, mitsumata, or gampi fibers) that diffuses light, allowing soft illumination to pass through while still offering privacy. Shoji screens are lightweight, and are used to divide rooms, direct foot traffic, or simply add a decorative, zen-inspired touch to a space without the permanence of a wall. 83" H x 66" W Good condition.
