Description
An Art Nouveau-style sculpture of a reclining mermaid, set into a natural, raw gemstone or mineral base, such as larimar or chrysocolla. The metal figure could be a form of bronze, silver, or a polyresin with a metal finish. Signed "Fontaine". The piece features a detailed figure of a nude mermaid with a flowing tail, rendered in a sinuous, organic style characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement (c. 1890–1910), which often utilized flowing lines and nature-inspired motifs. She is depicted in a relaxed pose, resting on a rocky formation that transitions into the polished gemstone. 3 1/4" W Good condition.
