Description
This item is a 12-piece set of sterling silver spoons signed by Benj. J. Mayo. The spoons feature Victorian-style handles with detailed scroll and leaf-like motifs at the base. Each spoon is stamped “Benj. J. Mayo.” The set comes with its original box, which bears the maker’s mark. Benjamin Mayo was born in England in 1838, moved to the USA in 1853, and operated a silversmith, silverplating, and watch business in Newark, New Jersey, from around 1865 until shortly after 1900. Each spoon measures H: 2.5" | W: 7" | L: 7". The condition of the spoons is good; the box has several rips and fading.
