Description
A vintage Chinese Peking glass snuff bottle with red overlay decoration on a yellow ground. The bottle features detailed carvings of birds (likely mandarin ducks) and lotus flowers, which are common motifs in Chinese art. It is a type of cameo glass, where layers of colored glass are carved away to create a raised design. Snuff bottles were popular in China during the Qing dynasty (18th-19th centuries) and served to store ground tobacco. They evolved into a form of decorative art and a symbol of status. H: 2.5" Good condition.
