Description

A Victorian art glass basket, typically dating to the late 19th century (circa 1880-1900). These baskets are collectible novelty items and often made by companies like Stevens & Williams or Fenton Art Glass. It is made of cased glass, featuring a white interior layer and a colored exterior, such as cranberry or pink, to give it an opalescent effect. The base and the twisted handle appear to be an applied amber or vaseline glass (which glows green under UV light due to uranium content). The basket features a deeply ruffled or crimped edge and an applied, twisted glass handle. The style, colors, and craftsmanship reflect popular Victorian-era tastes. 1/2" x 5 1/2" Good condition.
