Description
A Douglas C-124 Globemaster II model, often known by its nickname "Old Shaky". The model depicts an aircraft from the U.S. Air Force's Military Air Transport Service (MATS). The C-124 Globemaster II was a heavy-lift military transport aircraft that served as the primary transport for the USAF during the 1950s and early 1960s. It was the only aircraft of its time capable of transporting large, fully assembled equipment like tanks, field guns, and trucks due to its distinctive clamshell nose doors and hydraulic ramps. It could carry up to 200 fully equipped troops or 127 litter patients in its double-decked cabin. The aircraft was operational during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and also assisted in supply operations for Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica.
