Description
A vintage diamond solitaire ring, from the late 19th or early 20th century. The style is often referred to as a Belcher or "buttercup" setting. The diamond is set low into the band using prongs that are integrated into the ring's shoulders, rather than a separate basket or head. This "flow-over" design provides good protection for the stone and was popular in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The diamond itself is an older cut, such as an Old Mine Cut or Old European Cut, which were prevalent before modern brilliant cuts. The overall design is simple and elegant, a classic solitaire that puts the focus on the center stone. Size 9 Good condition.
