Description
A Japanese uchiwa fan postcard (mame uchiwa, or mini fan), featuring a geisha design. It serves the dual purpose of being a functional, non-folding hand fan (uchiwa) and a postcard, with space on the back to write a message. The fan features a traditional Japanese bijin-ga (beautiful person picture) art print of a geisha holding a smaller fan. The artwork style is common in vintage Japanese postcards. The text on the envelope reads "日本美扇団扇" which translates to "Japanese beauty fan uchiwa". It is made from paper and a lacquered bamboo or wood handle. 16" x 4" New in original packaging.
