Description
A vintage Japanese sumo wrestler okimono possibly carved from resin. The carving depicts a sumo wrestler (rikishi) in a squatting stance, likely performing the shikiri (pre-bout preparation) or shiko (ritual stomping) pose. The figure has a detailed, expressive face with a winking eye and open mouth. The style is characteristic of traditional Japanese carvings that capture moments from daily life or mythology. 2 1/2" H Good condition.
