Description
A pair of vintage Japanese Kokeshi bobblehead dolls, which are traditional wooden dolls that originated in Japan's Tohoku region during the Edo period (1603-1868). They are characterized by their simple, limbless design and hand-painted faces and bodies. Kokeshi were originally crafted by woodworkers (kijishi) and sold as toys or souvenirs to visitors of local hot springs (onsen). The dolls have a simple head and a cylindrical body, adorned with floral designs painted in red, black, and green. The word "JAPAN" is stamped on the bottom of the dolls, which is a common marking for items made for export. These dolls are popular collectibles and serve as symbols of good luck, protection, and wishes for a healthy child. 3" H Good condition.
