Description
A vintage hand-painted black lacquer trinket box, consistent with traditional Russian folk art styles. It features a black exterior and a red interior, and is made of papier-mâché or wood. It comes in its original box. The style of painting, with vibrant floral designs against a black background, is characteristic of traditional Russian lacquerware. The specific art style often originates from one of four Russian villages: Palekh, Fedoskino, Mstera, or Kholui, each having a distinct artistic style. This type of box is typically made from papier-mâché, which is impervious to moisture and resistant to warping. After painting, multiple layers of clear lacquer are applied and dried, giving the box its smooth, shiny finish. 11" H x 2" W Good condition.
