Description
A collection of vintage Chinese snuff bottles in a wooden display case. These miniature bottles are made of materials like glass, porcelain, jade, or cinnabar resin and feature intricate hand-painted designs or carvings. Snuff bottles were widely produced in China during the Qing dynasty (1644–1911), initially for the emperor and court, and later becoming popular symbols of status across society. They served as containers for ground tobacco (snuff) during a time when smoking tobacco was illegal in China. The wooden case helps organize and highlight the diversity of the collection, a common way to display these "miniature masterpieces". 3 1/2" H x 12" W Good condition.
