Description
A large marine shell identified as a Horned Helmet shell ( Cassis cornuta ), also commonly referred to as a Giant Helmet or Queen Helmet shell. The shell has a heavy, robust spiral form with a pronounced spire and a broad body whorl. The exterior surface shows natural cream to beige tones with areas of darker brown patterning and surface texture consistent with the species. Distinctive knob-like horn projections are present along the shell, and the underside aperture is bordered by a thickened lip displaying peach to orange coloration. Horned Helmet shells are native to tropical regions of the Indian and Pacific Oceans and are known for their substantial size and weight. The shell measures approximately 7.5 inches in height, 7.5 inches in width, and 9 inches in length. It is in good condition.
