Description
A natural sea shell identified as a Bullmouth Helmet shell ( Cypraecassis rufa ), also known as a red helmet or cameo shell. The shell is thick-walled and heavy, formed with an oval profile and prominent knob-like projections along the whorls. The exterior surface shows fine reticulated texture, while the interior of the outer lip displays lighter coloration typical of the species. Bullmouth helmet shells are predatory marine gastropods native to warm Indo-Pacific waters, where they inhabit sandy environments and feed on echinoderms. This species has historically been used for cameo carving due to the layered structure of the shell. The specimen measures approximately 4 inches in height and 6 inches in length. It is in good condition.
