Description
A natural marine shell identified as a queen conch ( Aliger gigas , also known as Lobatus gigas ). The shell is heavy and spiral-shaped, with a thickened, fully flared outer lip indicating a mature specimen. The exterior surface shows a pale, natural tone with multiple short, blunt spines along the spire. The interior of the aperture displays a smooth, glossy finish with pink to peach coloration. This species is native to the shallow waters of the Caribbean Sea, the Florida Keys, and Bermuda, where it inhabits seagrass and sandy environments. Queen conch shells hold cultural and historical significance in Caribbean regions and are subject to conservation protections due to population decline. Measurements are approximately 5 inches in height, 4.5 inches in width, and 6.5 inches in length. It is in good condition.
