Description
A natural sea shell identified as a queen conch ( Aliger gigas , also known as Lobatus gigas ). The shell is large and heavy, with a spiral form and a thick, fully flared outer lip indicating a mature specimen. The exterior surface shows natural wear and texturing, with multiple whorls and short, blunt spines near the apex. The interior of the lip displays a glossy surface with pale pink to peach-toned coloration. Queen conch shells have long-standing cultural significance in Caribbean and Atlantic regions, where they have historically been used for decorative arts, signaling horns, and as a food source. The shell is composed primarily of calcium carbonate, contributing to its durability. Measurements are approximately 5.5 inches in height, 7.5 inches in width, and 9.5 inches in length. It is in good condition.
