Description
An antique Chinese lacquered box dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The piece is constructed of a wood frame and finished with a traditional reddish-brown lacquer. The surface is hand-painted with a central decorative motif depicting a round object flanked by two vases holding floral arrangements, a composition commonly found in Chinese decorative arts. The box is fitted with traditional Chinese-style brass hardware, including a central locking mechanism and side handles. This form is associated with storage chests used for household or ceremonial purposes. Measurements are approximately 11.5 inches in height, 11 inches in width, and 16.25 inches in length. The box is in good condition.
