Description
A set of vintage Siam (Thailand) sterling silver and white enamel jewelry: a large brooch, two smaller clip-on earrings, and a panel link bracelet. The pieces are made of sterling silver, and are marked "Siam Sterling". They feature intricate openwork and etched "niello" designs on a white enamel background in the shape of hand fans and rectangular links. The white enamel sections depict the Thai celestial figures of Mekkala (goddess of lightning) and Ramasoon (god of thunder), or other Siamese dancers. This type of "Siam silver" jewelry was a popular mid-20th century trend, commonly purchased by American soldiers visiting Thailand in the 1950s and 1960s. Good condition.
