An 11.90 carats checkerboard cut amethyst, which is a purple variety of crystalline quartz. Amethyst comes in various shades of purple, from light lilac to deep violet. Amethyst ranks a 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it durable enough for everyday jewelry wear, though it can still be damaged by harsh chemicals or extreme heat. Traditionally, amethyst symbolizes peace, tranquility, and protection. In ancient Greece, it was believed to prevent intoxication, as its name derives from the Greek word "amethystos," meaning "not intoxicated". Good condition.
