Description
A piece of 55.24 Caratsrough ametrine, which is a rare, naturally occurring bicolor variety of quartz that combines the purple of amethyst with the golden-yellow or orange of citrine. Ametrine is a single crystal that displays both amethyst and citrine coloration, which is a result of differing oxidation states of iron within the crystal caused by a temperature gradient during its formation. The only significant commercial source of natural, gem-quality ametrine in the world is the Anahí mine in Bolivia, located near the border with Brazil. Good condition.
