Description
A nephrite jade oval cabochon 8.53 carats gemstone. Nephrite is one of two types of minerals classified as jade, the other being jadeite. Nephrite is typically known for its rich, often earthy, green tones, which can range from light to dark green, and may contain subtle veining or black speck inclusions. The surface has a waxy or vitreous luster when polished. It is a calcium magnesium iron silicate mineral with an interlocked fibrous crystal structure that makes it extremely tough and resistant to breaking, ideal for carving and use in jewelry like this cabochon.
