Description
An antique ornate metal enamel patch box featuring a miniature hand-painted portrait of a woman. These types of small, decorative boxes were popular accessories in the 18th and 19th centuries and were used to hold false beauty marks (patches) or small items like snuff or pills. The box exhibits ornate detailing and colorful enamel work. The enamel top features a central medallion with a hand-painted portrait, which was a common feature on French or Austrian boxes. It is also adorned with small blue "jewels" or glass beads around the portrait and the sides, a style found in some jeweled bronze or metal vanity boxes. Interior has a small mirror. Please note: tarnishing and discoloration at metal.
