Description
This framed artwork is a high-quality reproduction from the 1824 fox-hunting series published by Thomas McLean of 26 Haymarket, London, based on the original aquatint and etching works by Alken and Sutherland. The print faithfully reflects the composition and style of the early 19th-century sporting illustrations, including the original publication line: “London, Published by Thos. McLean, 26, Haymarket, 1824.” It depicts an energetic moment in a traditional English fox hunt, with mounted riders in formal red hunting coats, a full pack of hounds in pursuit, and a rural landscape featuring a small country structure in the background. The piece is presented in an ornate Bombay Company frame. Thomas McLean was a leading London print publisher of the 19th century, noted for his extensive catalog of sporting, satirical, and genre prints, many of which bear his distinctive blindstamp. H: 15" | W: 40" — good condition.
