Description
Framed porcelain relief plaque marked Alt Meissen style, produced in Dresden in the mid-20th century as a high-quality reproduction inspired by 18th-century Meissen designs. The scene depicts a Rococo pastoral moment set in the Castle Park of Sanssouci, featuring a seated lady holding flowers and a gentleman beside her playing a mandolin beneath a stylized tree. The figures are crafted in bisque porcelain with a matte white finish and presented in high relief against a pale blue background. The plaque is housed in a carved, ornate gold-tone wooden frame in Rococo style with a gently distressed finish. A descriptive factory label on the back reads: “Szene from the Castle-Park of Sanssouci about 1750–1760… The pastoral plays, performed in the castle-parks of the Rococo, were a favourite amusement for grandes Dames and Cavaliers… part of the abundance of the Rococo and of the Happy Century.” This is a Dresden reproduction, not an original Meissen piece. H: 14" | W: 11.5" | L: 1.75", good condition.
