Description
This vintage Japanese folk art piece is a kokeshi doll toothpick or cocktail pick holder, crafted from painted wood. The base features a traditional kokeshi doll with a large, rounded head and cylindrical body, hand-painted with a minimalist face and a blue kimono decorated with white patterns. Kokeshi dolls, originating from Japan’s Tohoku region, often symbolize good fortune, protection, and the wish for a child’s healthy growth. Inserted into the top of the main doll are several smaller kokeshi-style sticks, serving as toothpicks or hors d'oeuvres skewers. Each stick has a simple, elongated form with a round head and a body painted with blue and white stripes. Dimensions: H: 5.12" | W: 1.57" | L: 1.57". Condition: Good.
