Description
A Blenko Handcraft Amberina glass bear figurine. The Amberina color, a signature Blenko treatment, showcases a beautiful gradient from amber to ruby red, achieved through careful reheating and manipulation of the glass. These pieces were made in limited runs, adding to their collectible appeal. The piece is signed “Richard Blenko 2001,” stamped, and retains its original tag and maker’s label “Blenko Handcraft.” Richard Blenko, who began working at Blenko Glass at a young age, was deeply involved in the company’s operations. He worked in various capacities, including management, and served as the promotional representative of Blenko Glass. Often regarded as an ambassador for West Virginia glass, he contributed to the company’s collaboration with PBS and participated in films documenting Blenko’s history. From the 1980s through 2007, he was also involved in selecting and developing designs for Blenko’s catalogs. Figurine measures 4.5" x 3.5" x 2.5" and is in good condition.
