Description
This is an antique Chinese cloisonné footed compote, also known as a tazza or pedestal bowl. The piece is made using the traditional cloisonné technique, where thin metal wires (cloisons) are soldered to a bronze or copper base to form compartments that are then filled with colored enamel and fired. The compote features a wide, shallow bowl atop a pedestal base, adorned with intricate floral and scroll borders on both the rim and the base. The interior displays a central multi-pointed star or flower motif set against a dark geometric background. The color palette includes rich shades of blue, accented with yellow, green, and burgundy or lilac tones, while the metalwork is likely brass or gilt bronze. Characteristic of Qing Dynasty decorative arts, this piece exemplifies ornate floral and scrolling motifs from 19th-century China. Measurements: H: 5.51" | W: 9.25" | L: 9.25", in good condition.
