Description
A mid-20th century Murano glass sculpture depicting a pair of dolphins leaping from a wave. Executed using the “sommerso” technique, the dolphins are crafted from a darker opaque grey or black glass encased in clear glass, set atop a swirling clear glass base evocative of ocean waves. This elegant marine-inspired piece can serve as a decorative object or a paperweight and is signed “A. Seguso” on the underside. Archimede Seguso (b. Murano, 1909) began his apprenticeship in the furnace at age 11, mastering traditional and heavy glass techniques. By his early twenties, he became a distinguished Master glassmaker, known for his sculptural works including animals, figurative pieces, and innovative “bullicante” and iridescent glass creations. He founded the Archimede Seguso Artistic Glass Factory in 1946, solidifying his creative independence. Dimensions: H: 11" | W: 8" | L: 6.25". Condition: Good.
