Description
An antique French Roberval balance scale with a 5 kg capacity, featuring a cast-iron base with decorative, ornate detailing and a prominent central pillar. The Roberval mechanism, invented in the 17th century, allows for convenient and stable weighing. A central needle points to a stylized upright indicator to show when the scale is balanced. These scales were commonly used in markets, apothecaries, and kitchens from the late 19th to early 20th century. H: 9" | W: 16.5" | L: 7.75", missing one dish.
