Description
Japanese woodblock print by Nippon Hanga Seisakusha in the style of The Courtesan Hanaōgi of the Ōgiya Brothel (Ōgiya no uchi Hanaōgi) by Ichirakutei Eisui, dating to the 1790s. The image depicts the courtesan Hanaōgi adjusting a hairpin in her elaborate coiffure while holding a semitransparent circular fan referencing her brothel’s name, Ōgiya, or “House of Fans.” Likely representing Hanaōgi VI, the print highlights her skills in poetry, singing, and other literary arts. Measures H: 12.5" | W: 10". In good condition with minimal wear consistent with age.
