Description
Pair of 1930s Art Deco cast bronze bookends by Weidlich Brothers Manufacturing Co., marked “WB 641” on the reverse. Each bookend features a raised peacock design, flanked by classical columns with an arched backdrop and stylized foliage, typical of early 20th-century Art Deco styling. The Weidlich Brothers firm operated out of Bridgeport, Connecticut from the early 1900s until the 1950s, producing metalware and decorative household items. Known for their detailed casting and quality finishes, their pieces were made in a range of metals, often in silverplate or bronze wash, as seen here. Each bookend measures approximately 5 inches high by 4 inches wide. Both show consistent patina and light wear, with no visible cracks or structural damage.
