Description

This is an antique ogee-style wall clock featuring a wooden case with a rich, dark finish. The clock face has a classic design with Roman numerals and is accented by hand-painted blue and green floral motifs in the corners. A glass door protects the dial and a lower tablet, which reveals the pendulum and a coiled gong from the original mechanism. The interior retains a partial paper label from the manufacturer, identifying it as a product of the "Ansonia Brass & Copper Co." of Ansonia, Connecticut. This label indicates the clock case was likely produced between 1869 and 1877, before the company relocated to New York in 1878. The Ansonia Clock Company was a prominent American clockmaker in the 19th and early 20th centuries, known for producing a wide variety of timepieces. While the case and dial are from the 19th century, the original mechanical movement has been replaced with a modern battery-operated quartz mechanism, as seen from the back. This modification makes the clock a functional timepiece for modern use while retaining its antique aesthetic. The clock's dimensions are approximately 25.5 inches in height and 15 inches in width.
