Description
This matched pair of hand-painted famille rose porcelain figures depicts two classic Chinese deities of blessing and long life. The first figure represents Shou Lao (Shou Xing), the God of Longevity, shown seated with a long flowing beard, holding a peach of immortality in one hand and a red gnarled staff in the other. His robe is decorated with repeating turquoise and red patterns and his hat is trimmed with intricate gilt motifs. The second figure represents Fu Xing, the Star God of Happiness and Good Fortune, standing in a turquoise robe decorated with golden trigram symbols and a brown hem with small floral designs. He wears a black hat bearing the yin–yang symbol and carries a green-sheathed sword with red and gold details across his back. Both figures are hand-painted in the famille rose style with fine gilded highlights. Each measures approximately 13 inches high by 5 inches wide and both are in good condition.
