Description
Vintage Japanese-style lacquered bento / writing box with a faux tortoiseshell finish and gold-etched landscape design. The box is crafted from molded resin/plastic with a high-gloss lacquer-style coating. The surface features a warm oxblood red faux tortoiseshell pattern, decorated with a gold-colored etched scene of a mountain, birds in flight, trees, and a small house in a traditional Japanese setting. The interior is finished in a glossy black, characteristic of maki-e-inspired export goods from Japan. Measuring 9.75" x 5.5" x 1.75", the piece is in good condition, showing only minor wear consistent with age and use.
