Description
An elegant Japanese Kutani porcelain vase dating to the 1920s–1940s interwar period, richly decorated in overglaze enamels and gold. The deep oxblood-red ground is highlighted with hand-painted golden pheasants and blooming peonies, traditional symbols of prosperity, harmony, and good fortune. The base bears a kanji Kutani seal (九谷製, “Made in Kutani”) along with the export mark “Japan”, required for trade in the early 20th century. This dual marking firmly dates the piece to the pre-WWII era of Japanese export wares, when Kutani kilns were producing highly decorative porcelain for Western markets. A striking addition to any collection of Japanese export ceramics, Kutani ware, or Asian antiques. Perfect for display in both traditional and modern interiors.
