Description
This is a set of two porcelain plates by Weatherby Royal Falcon, each measuring 8.75” in diameter. The plates feature reproductions of British fox hunting scenes by John Frederick Herring Sr. (1795–1865), known for his equestrian and sporting artwork. John Frederick Herring Sr. began his career as a coach driver and painter, later gaining recognition as a full-time artist in 1821. He specialized in equine and sporting subjects, earning commissions from British royalty including George IV, William IV, and Queen Victoria. These plates are part of a series reproducing six of his renowned hunting scenes. The scenes depict riders and horses in traditional hunting attire and are bordered with burgundy and intricate gold detailing. Both plates are in good condition with no visible cracks or chips.
