Description
This is a French hand-painted porcelain lidded jar from Limoges. It features floral designs in red on a lavender background with gold accents. Limoges porcelain has been produced in the city of Limoges, France, since the late 18th century. The discovery of kaolin clay in the region contributed to its emergence as a major porcelain center. The industry was further supported by the establishment of factories and royal patronage, including King Louis XIV. The base is marked "Hand Painted" with a Limoges stamp, possibly from La Violette workshop. It measures 4.5” L x 4.5” W x 11.5” H. It is in good condition with minor wear consistent with use.
