Description
Vintage Raku pottery vase by Tony Evans, crafted in California during the 1980s. This piece is signed “Evans” on the base and marked with the edition number 14. It showcases Evans’ distinctive Raku technique, featuring a crackled glaze surface with rich teal, maroon, and beige tones. Tony Evans (1942–2009) was a Welsh-born scientist and professor who became widely recognized for his innovative ceramic work. His background in materials science and academic roles at institutions including Harvard and UC Berkeley informed his artistic process, blending technical precision with ancient-inspired forms and textures. The vase measures 9" tall and is in good condition with minor wear consistent with age. A striking example of Evans’ signature style and a collectible work of modern Raku pottery.
