Description
This giclee print titled La Piste du Cirque is signed and numbered (142/300) in ink by Marc Chagall. It is based on the original oil on panel painting created circa 1967. Marc Chagall (1887–1985) was a Russian-French artist and early modernist associated with the École de Paris. His work spanned various formats, including painting, drawings, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramics, tapestries, and fine art prints. In his reflections on the circus, Chagall described it as a magical and tragic world, filled with both poetry and sorrow, likening its performers to figures in religious paintings. The print measures 23” L x 27.5” H and is in good condition. It is housed in a multi-layered antiqued frame with carved detailing.
