Description
This is a large patinated spelter lamp base from the 1950s, marked "Collection Francais" and designed after the style of L&F Moreau. It depicts a boy and girl collecting fruit from a tree, with a basket at the base. The figures are cast in detailed relief and draped in abbreviated clothing. L&F Moreau refers to Louis Auguste (1855–1919) and Hippolyte Francois (1857–1930), brothers from the Moreau family of sculptors in Dijon, France. They were known for creating ornate decorative works in bronze and spelter, including figural sculptures and clock sets. This piece is a mid-20th-century reproduction in their style. The lamp base measures 10.5" W x 35" H and is in good condition.
